Sharpening Your Point

In this assignment, I have been asked to develop a thesis statement for my unfolding research paper. Though I am looking to do a more exploratory research paper, a thesis is a great guide to creating the main idea of any paper. With out a main point, a paper becomes meaningless and won't hold a readers attention long. So thesis statements are always a good exercise to use.

Thesis Statement:
Based on current research, there is a strong relationship between nature and human health benefits. There are many different aspects to the health benefits that can be explored. The biggest benefits are both psychological and physical and should be explored in depth the most.

  1. Yep, I agree, Zach -- drafting a thesis can be a helpful evaluation tool in the writing process because it helps you see if you understand your topic well enough to take a stance towards or make an argument for your research inquiry. Remember, though, that argument AND exploratory essays both contain a thesis, just at different points in the respective essays.

Regarding the thesis you've posted here, I think you could condense it down to one sentence by eliminating the middle sentence and somehow combining the first and last sentence. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
